Are you someone who's trying to navigate what's been happening since March of 2020? I am. At times I feel like everything around me is colapsing. Like you, I've been through some hard things these past 2 years and am trying to figure 'it' out. Staying positive is key. Keep going, keep growing, right?
I began this quest 12 years ago when I was trying to help my son with his migraines. Doctors wanted to put him on some heavy meds with side-effects I couldn't justify for a 2 year old. That's when a whole new world opened up to me. I learned about Monsanto and all of the preservatives in our food chain. (this subject will be a future blog) We cut out all preservatives and paid attention to caffiene and sugar intakes. It wasn't easy, but it worked. We got his migraines under control. He went from 3-5 a week, down to a few headaches a month, and the occasional migraine.
This was the beginning of my story and learning about alternative medicines. I googled and did research. I spoke to people and learned more. This time period taught me to question everything, not skepticism, but questioning to understand the full scope of things when it came to caring for my kids.
I began making salves and essential oil mixes and in the process learned about how beneficial dandelions can be. I began making more salves to help with my sons excema, then I dabbled with lip glosses. That took me awhile. I wanted it to be perfect and I wanted to make everything 100% organic. I've found that to be difficult and very expensive, but like everyone, I pick and choose my battles. Every product sold on this site is made with as much organic ingredients as possible. My lip glosses have only one additive and that's the coloring. I'm in love with what I came up with. The colors have a natural feel to them, nothing harsh. They go on easily and make my lips feel softer and healthier.
I began The Dandelion Den with the hopes to make some extra income while doing something I love and am passionate about. I've also been a photographer for the past 12 years, one of my other passions. My goal is to grow a business that will allow me to travel and work at the same time when I 'retire' or more accurately, when all of my kids are out of the house.
I'm always open to new ideas, growing a business is a process, just like life.
The Dandelion Den will feature more products in the future, salves are coming soon. I'm infusing more dandelion oil as I write. I'm working on packaging for Dandelion Lotion Bars, perfect for calming excema, and an immune booster, which is currently unnamed, but it works. I've been making it for years and love it!
I hope you'll continue to follow my story and learn more about dandelions and other organic products that are beneficial to our self-care. I'll also be touching on home made products that can be used around the home and sharing products I use that are environmentally friendly. You'll find those on my affiliate page 'Buy Green'.
I will confess, that most of those products are found on Amazon. It was the easiest affiliate program to join, but I am in process of applying to other companies that offer these products, so as the applications are approved, I'll be updating the 'Buy Green' page.
